nope, i'm not in-state. i live in north carolina.

and thanks, alexandre :). i'm not exactly sure about my major yet but it'll be some kind of engineering. i already got accepted to nc state and unc-chapel hill and am waiting to hear from johns hopkins and duke. where i go really depends on whether my parents will be willing to pay for it. i'd love to go to michigan but unc is a lot cheaper for me (though they don't even offer engineering!). if i could pick a college regardless of price, i'd probably opt for johns hopkins with michigan in a close 2nd place (though i haven't visited either yet so that may change).

Did you apply for any scholarships? With your credentials, I would not be surprised if you got some merit aid from Michigan. You should call the aid office and see what you can do. It is too bad that non of the Carolina schools are not tops in Engineering or related fields. NC State is decent but not for a student of your caliber and potential.

I hope your parents can help out and that you end up at Johns Hopkins or Michigan. Both schools are awesome.

yeah, i was hoping for some merit aid but it appears that applying late may have ruined my chances for that :(. i think i'll call tomorrow though just to inquire about it!

"As for the Actuarial sciences, I would say Cornell is one of hte best in the country Wisconsin is not far behind. Michigan, Illinois and Penn are also solid in the Actuarial sciences, but not as good as Cornell or Wisconsin."

Planning on studying economics or international realations... will have to attend Tufts however cause i got in ed... I really wanted to go to either Tufts or Michigan... I figured I should ed tufts cause RD would kill me with their acceptance rates... I was not sure i would get Michigan cause 10 other kids applied from my school, and I thought that this would lower my chances... whats wierd is that all the kids who applied have been accepted..(all 10) i guess thats cause I am from one of the best schools here... not too sure.

But it means that I will not be able to attend mich, otherwise i would break to ed agreement... not too sure about what the consequences but I have no intention of doing it...

If you already got in, withdraw your apps from the other schools and inform those that have accepted you arleady that you will not be attending because thats a spot for someone else.

How could you already be accepted by both Colgate and Tufts? Did you apply ED to Colgate too?
If you were accepted by Tufts ED, you have to immediately withdraw your applications from all other schools.

didnt get colgate early decision... its wierd how they sent me a letter of acceptance so early... not sure if it has happened to anyone else. It jus said that due to ur excellent academic record we are pleased to offer you admission to colgate university... not sure if its a mistake but thats what happened...

yeah i have sent withdrawal letters to all unis... got into michigan prior to recieving the ed decision.

sent michigan a letter as well... saying that i would not be able to attend. So far all but one uni have acknowledged withdrawal... that is wisconsin... others do not respond.

i got into tufts ed II... so i found out recently

yeah.. but don't see how its a problem... firstly cause i have sent out withdrawal letters as instructed, and i have no intention of going elsewhere. Furthermore, Tufts says that it is ok to still be in the admissions process in order to compare finc aid packages... either way I have still withdrawn all my apps... if they dont acknowledge, i'm at no fault... however i did send them out through regular mail thus it takes quite a while to reach the States.

oh ok... didn't know that... I've sent colgate a letter mentioning that I have got admission into my ED university... I may get confirmation in the mail later... i usually find that stuff generally takes ages to reach here from the states...

As you mention that both schools share ED lists, i would imagine that Colgate would have rescinded my offer by now..
