<p>Do you guys think that just because I sent my ACT scores recently it'll affect when I get my decision? Like I finished my application like in November and didn't report the ACTs because I didn't really think I was gonna take them til after I sent the app out...but I just mailed them a letter saying I was sending it to them and they have already gotten them I'm sure. So do you think I'll get my decision after jan 31st now?</p>

<p>viva la dana: I'm sorry to say you will probably be waiting a lot longer than the rest of us. Unless they had some sort of standardized test score in place of the ACT Score that you recently sent, your application wouldn't have "gone complete" by November 31st. Sadly this leaves you in the dark as to when you might be informed of a decision.</p>

<p>So I got my big acceptance package today.</p>
<p>"Congratulations on getting accepted into your 2nd choice of campus!"</p>
<p>Not only do I have to suffer through the embarassment of being rejected by my state college, but they have to taunt me by sending me a big fat letter that turns out to be from a satellite campus.</p>
<p>believe me, i know.</p>
<p>let me tell you what happeened.</p>
<p>when i got mine, no one was home cuz it was right after school and my parents are still at work when i get home. i open the mailbox, see this big ass letter that says "CONGRATULATIONS" so i run inside, throw everyone on the floor, and tear the package open.</p>
<p>i read:
"Congratulations! You have been accepted into Penn State for the 2008-2009 school year at our Altoona Campus."
GREAAAAT.</p>
<p>and they give you all of this stuff to read, so i took it all upstairs to my room with me. i left behind the "congrats" envelope and the "PennState Pride" sticker on the kitchen table.</p>
<p>a bit later, i hear my mom come home.
screams from the kitchen...
"COURRRRRRTNEY! YAAAAAAAY"
she runs upstairs. and runs into my room, only to find my face covered in tears.
"YOU ARE CRYING CAUSE YOU'RE SO HAPPY .. THATS ADORABLE!"</p>
<p>and i was like "actually, mom. i got into altoona."
she was like, "oh."</p>

<p>anyways, i had to go to work. so im at work and all of a sudden my dad calls me. he NEVER calls me unless its an emergency, esp. at work. so i answer. he starts screaming "YAYYYYYYY CONGRATULATIONS" and im thinking, "not again". he apparently saw the envelope and bumper sticker just like my mom did, and didnt realize i had been accepted to altoona.</p>
<p>oh, that was a horrid day.</p>
<p>CLC2 - what major did u apply for? and did u say you were willing to do summer? Also, if u dont mind me asking . .what were ur grades like?</p>
<p>I applied as a Mechanical Engineering major.</p>
<p>SAT: 1250/1850
GPA: 3.75-3.80 UW
Not sure of the weighted average.</p>

<p>I think the ONLY reason you got rejected at UP was because of your major choice, if you applied for anything else, you would've easily gotten in. The engineering program is extremely difficult to get into.</p>
<p>wow im shocked u didnt get in! you should appeal that. did u apply late or something? or you should even tell them you are wiannted to start DUS because engineering is harder to get into.</p>

<p>call . . tell them you didnt realize that engineering was so competitve, you are well above their mid range for university park . . it is your first choice. (even if its not say it is anyway). Then tell them you want to be relooked at for DUS andif you want you will send them more info (midyear grades or something)</p>
