I've had severe social anxiety since the 10th grade and came into community college thinking everything would be better. Didn't happen, I could not handle being in a class room and withdrew from classes that involved any type of group work. The anxiety took me to hell and back but after some therapy I'm back on my feet and improving daily. I've been getting mostly A's and some B's the past three semesters but I really blew it in my first three years of going to community college. I got a total of 5's W's, two C's, and one FW. Three of those w's are from one semester that I did not even attend and forgot to drop, and one of the c's i did not attend the final month of class. My question is what are the chances of me being accepted to a CSU ? A job opportunity has come through that is going to pay me 30 dollars and hour after a year of apprenticeship. Psychology is my passion and I really want to help kids who were to the point of point of ending their life like I was but according to my counselor getting to most CSU's will be tough because of my track record. Any response is appreciated and be honest with me. Thanks !

There is no reason why you can’t take this apprenticeship, move up into that job, and continue to take college classes part-time. In fact part-time study (especially if the classes are online) should help with the social issues because you will be dealing with fewer people at a time.

Nationwide, many, many adults are completing their degrees part-time while they work full-time. It really is OK to do it that way.
