I came to the US a year ago from a non English-speaking country. I completed 9th grade in my country and had the credits transferred. However, I still have one pending English credit waiting for approval, so I am now a sophomore whilst supposedly being a junior due to only having 1.5 English credits.
Because of this, I have an option to stay another year in HS. It certainly will provide several benefits: improving SAT scores and GPA, having more ECs and internships, taking more AP classes, having time for competitions I have always dreamed of (IChO, Intel, etc.).
But what will colleges think about this? Will they regard my country's credits as "middle school credits for high school" or that my staying another year as "5th year" in HS? Will it hurt my chances?
My stats are fairly good, though (3.9GPA, 5s on APs, 2100 SAT, 110+ volunteer hours, lots of ECs, NIH SIP, etc.), so people just seem to think I am out of my mind...
Thanks in advance for the advice.

Another year is a waste of time. You have solid stats. IMO I would not waste one year of high school just to increase my stats.

Go to college. You will hate yourself for taking another year later.
