Steinhardt MT

Hi! I have been looking into Steinhardt's musical theater program for a while now and my senior year is quickly approaching. I just have a few questions. How many people on average audition for the musical theater program? Does Steinhardt admit 25-30 students in each concentration of Vocal Perfromance (Classical Voice, Musical theater) or are they split between the two? If someone had a good audition, would they be lenient with this person's stats? My stats aren't exactly terrible (gpa- 3.5, sat 1870) but they could be better.
Those are all my questions for now. Thanks!

I’d also repost this to the Musical Theatre board, I think there are some parents of Steinhardt MT students who have some answers.

The combined total is 25 to 30 students for both programs. More in MT than in Classical. There has been talk of combining the programs for the first 2 years and then having students select, but so far I don’t believe that has been done for next year.

You need to have a great audition and have the grades as well. The academic standard may be lower than for other NYU programs, but it is still within the range of what all NYU students need for admission. I am not sure how low the threshold goes. Personally, I would try to get your SAT score up. The audition is worth 50% and academics 50%.

D is a rising junior in the program and loves it!
