I'm a junior and I'm trying to decide what school at NYU to apply to (it's between Tisch for DW, CAS for English/Poli Sci, or Steinhardt for Communications) and after careful consideration decided that Steinhardt is the school that I like the best, as it combines all of my interests. I know that, on paper, Steinhardt is one of the most selective colleges at NYU, but I figured that that was just because it houses the music and studio art programs. So basically what I'm wondering is how selective is the Communications program at Steinhardt? Are there any special things that should be on my resume before I consider applying? The school on it's own seems to be a pretty good academic fit for me, so I'm just trying to figure out what school to which I'll be applying. Oh, and if it helps, I MIGHT do early decision. Thanks!

I thought Steinhardt was the easiest? With my stats I would've got rejected from CAS or Stern, but I got into Steinhardt. (it had my program though)

I did write a quite touching essay though... but then again, that should apply for the other schools at NYU

oh, and I'm the only 1 out of 9 kids at my school who applied to NYU this year, while I'm the only Steinhardtian. (the other 2 were CAS, not sure about the rest)

Really? Steinhardt is one of the easiest? I guess I was just hearing stuff about music then?

And what major did you apply for? Sorry for all the questions!

I meant to say I was the only person who applied to steinhardt in the 9 people that applied to NYU.

I applied as a nutritional science major

I don't have the numbers, but the most selective schools are Tisch and Stern in that order. I am not sure about the order of the others.

The music and visual art programs in Steinhardt actually have comparable admission rates to Tisch and Stern. I'm not sure about the admissions rate for the rest of the degree programs in Steinhardt, though.

Eh. There's lots of Communication majors. I don't think it's that difficult to get into. It's not like the other artsy majors at all.

It's not that difficult but you still get really good opportunities.
