I would appreciate some insights into the STEM education at NMH. I understand they recently opened their new science center, but would like to receive some information on the quality of teachers, opportunities/clubs/curriculum offered, etc. I know this topic has been discussed before, however, the comments were mixed.
It also seems the school made many positive changes in recent year, so I am wondering whether there have been any specific initiatives in the STEM area.
I toured the new building with my son a few weeks ago and it is pretty amazing. He is more humanities focused but it seemed nmh had a pretty extensive course catalogue. Best of luck
Look at the course catalog. Ask your AO how many of those courses are regularly offered. Most schools in that tier will be enough STEM wise for most kids. You overestimate the amount of freedom in choosing courses - really only happens senior year - and your amount of free time.
I find it fascinating on how many amazing courses are offered in many BS - top tier, tier 2 etc - no way can kids take all these classes without effectively saying “I’m all STEM or Humanities” - obviously if you are a repeat/reclasses you effectively get an entire year of extra classes
