STEM Schools

I want to pursue biomedical engineering. I am considering RIT, WPI, Stevens Institute of technology, and Virginia Tech Honors college. I believe ultimately my decision will come down to Stevens and Virginia Tech. However, WPI’s program appear to be very good as well. I am concerned about the 7 week terms though. I hear that they are more fast paced and stressful, and not really for someone who is unsure of their major, which I kind of am. I want the opportunity to explore many sciences, maths, and the biomedical engineering. Can anyone comment on their experience with the terms and with the school in general? Do the terms affect spring break at all because you get breaks between each term?

Are you accepted and entering in fall or just looking at schools? Did you consider BU as well? It has a top notch Biomedical engineering program. Also, from what I have been reading, if you are considering Biomed. E, you will likely need a master’s degree.

Here is the BME “first destination” outcomes data from WPI for 2019 graduates. This was taken from page 13 of a PDF printout found @ https://www.wpi.edu/student-experience/career-development/outcomes

With 87% of the graduates reporting:
39 took jobs with an average salary of $63,985
29 went to graduate school at eight different Universities

Twelve graduated with masters degrees and took jobs with an average salary of $71,490.

Three PhDs were awarded and all took jobs but the sample size was too small to permit income disclosure.

Graduate schools were : Brown, JHU, Queen’s University, Tufts University, UCSD, UPitt, Utah, and WPI.

Double majors included EE, ME, Psychological Science, Robotics Engineering and Writing (professional). Note how this major blends with these crossover applications.
