Stern - Chance Me

Hey guys, I'm looking for some honest feedback on my chances for Stern.

GPA: 3.8/4
Rank: about 18/1200
SAT I: M: 730 CR: 700 W:610 (Total: 2040)
SAT II's: None

AP's : Calc BC - 5, Psych 5, Human Geo 5, World History 4, USH 5

EC's: just a bunch of clubs, no business related

what are my chances?

Writing score is a little low, should be at least 650. However I think you may have a good chance as your GPA is great. You could have taken some SAT IIs, specifically Math1/2, Chem, Literature. Your ECs seem to be sub par, is that all you have for those? Academically you have a decent chance, meaning as much of a chance as the rest of the people applying, which will be around 25%. So it’s sort of a reach, but Stern is very difficult to get into. Write some killer essays and get great recs to solidify your chances.

i got around like 300 service hours…if that helps?

and does anyone know if the major we put on the supplement actually makes a difference. like are finance majors going to be compared seperately from, say, marketing majors?

Well 300 hours are certainly impressive! You have a good shot dude, just blow them away with essays and you’re good to go. I am not sure about the major question sorry.

Replied in my thread where you asked me this directly.

you have to have to have to submit two sat subject exams to stern. it’s a requirement. take the next exam dates and submit them asap!

All freshmen applicants must submit standardized test scores. Applicants for admission to NYU may submit:

The SAT Reasoning Test and two SAT Subject Tests OR
The ACT (with Writing Test) OR
Three SAT Subject Test scores (one in literature or the humanities, one in math or science, and one non-language of the student’s choice) OR
The SAT Reasoning Test and two Advaced Placement (AP) Exam scores
Three AP exam scores (one in literature or the humanities, one in math or science, and one nonlanguage of the student’s choice).

Those are all the different ways to submit acceptable scores.

Do you have to apply to each individual school at NYU?

you don’t need 2 SAT II tests as long as you sent the SAT I

You can only apply to ONE NYU school.
