Stern Transfer Chances

I'm about to be a sophomore at the University of Maryland - College Park and I'm thinking about transfering to NYU Stern for the Fall of 2007 as a junior. I just had a few questions about it, so hopefully you guys can help me out

As a junior transfer student is it really difficult to be social and meet people?

and of course, what are my chances of getting in?

Can probably get pretty good letters of recommendation as well

THANKS!

I just finished my sophmore year at stern and am graduating a year early so I can help you out.

You have an good chance at getting into Stern. Stern accepts transfers usually only when students transfer out or they see amazing applicants. UMD is a good school and if your grades stay great, I'm sure you get in. Keep it at or above a 3.5.

You should beware though, Stern is absolutely, positively competitive once you're in there. Grades in Stern classes are based solely on your peers and they work very hard. If you transfer in as a junior though, you will have missed the brunt of easier stern classes with brutal curves, in junior/senior classes the curve helps you. Also you will be in a great opportunity to get one of those amazing Ibanking internships once you get in, since every finance firm does on campus recruiting in the fall of your junior year.
Good luck.
