For someone who want to major in finance or related fields, Stern provides some pretty great opportunities. Its World Studies Track program is of particular interest. Are these sort of opportunities available at Berkeley?

omg story of my life.
i am trying to choose between stern and cal right now too.
everyone says stern is better for finance since haas doesn’t even have a finance major, and that stern gives more opportunity for internships and has more connections with the business world (after all, it is in NYC on wall street).
right now, i am looking for reasons to pick cal - i think i subconsciously want cal in my heart, but then based on some of the feedback i’ve gotten about stern v. haas, my head is telling me to pick stern.
someone pleaasseee give some reasons why haas is better.

other than its location (which nyc), i honestly can’t make a solid argument to choose stern over haas.

that is…if you can get into haas

If you can’t get into Haas, you’re not fit for the finance world. Plain and simple.

wait… are you guys talking about undergrad (as I am) or grad school? I never realized Haas has an undergrad program…

I don’t know about everyone else, but I was speaking of undergrad.

oh good! me too.

then, I wonder why they’re all talking about Haas? As far as I know, Haas doesn’t have an undergrad program

What? Yes it does, haha.
It’s undergrad program is like top 3 in the nation.
It is only a 2 year program though, and you have to apply your soph. year

hehe, Haas’ undergrad business program exists. In fact, it’s a solid top 5 business school in the nation for undergrad business education.

Yeah I’m in the same shoe as Catalysis. Stern with no financial aid (as I am international) vs. Berkeley pre-business with an R&C Scholarship. I understand that being pre-business at Berkeley gives me no advantage in getting into Haas but for me that’s not a factor. I’m wondering if someone could make a comparison about the strengths of both schools? Thanks!

i’m in the same boat… stern or undecided/pre-bus at berkeley… i’m leaning toward CAL… but i’m still not 100%… going to NYU and Berkeley for CalDay :)

If you just go by rankings Berkeley is #3 and NYU is #5

i would go with berkeley because cal has top ranked programs in a lot of different fields, in case you decide you dont want to do finance/business. If you do matriculate to Stern then you have to do business . if you change your mind NYU other majors are not that good.
Haas is not that difficult to get into, and you will have 2 years to decide if you really want to do business or something else (or double major)
