hello, im currently a fresh. at usc marshall school of business. i just got accepted into NYU stern school of business as a transfer. Since I am not knowledgeable about undergraduate programs as much as some people on this forum, I would like to get pros/cons and advises. I live in New Jersey so I am aware that Stern is a great program...but so is Marshall. In the future, I would like to go into international business probably in Asia...maybe dealing with the movie market. So...what do you guys think? Thank you for every piece of advise.

i'd like to think stern is probably stronger, but it's not like it's a big differenece. go with the school that will offer you more aid. you can't go wrong with either, after being at usc for a year now, did you not like your experience?

Stern is stronger than Marshall, in recruiting and prestige. #2 for international business and as for the movie market there might be some joint program in NYU that you might want to take a look into. If you wish to go to Asia, Stern definetely provides the connections and gives you the global perspective. being in nyc doesn't hurt and only helps in further broadening your horizons. I would choose Stern, but if money is of concern do take the cost into consideration. good luck.

i had the same dilemma not too ago. i chose USC for fit, location, proximity to home, weather, women, and school spirit. NYU si better if you want to work in NYC. it REALLY comes down to where you want to work. in your case, USC will give you more oppurtunity than nyu. Pacific Rim big biz loves USC and asian internationals are highly represented in our student body. you know USC has a joint biz/cinema degree available, right?

yea...but i know little about the joint program. im currently pursuing a business degree with emphasis on east asian studies. it's too late to change and do joint program with cinema...right?

also...to the first question...it's not that i didnt like the experience at usc. great school spirit, sports, business school, weather, etc. but i live in nj so there's a distance factor. Also...I'm playing the prestige game here. what school would help me the most down the road?? that's the most important thing for me.

youre justa freshman so nothing is too late. i suggest you look into the joint biz/cinema degree further. i can relate to the distance factor, i live in CA and that was one of the reasons i chose SC over nyu. but i do feel im missing out by not going far away and expereincing some new things. maybe its just me though. nyu is more prestigious. but the farther you go down the road, the less your degree matters. put it this way, if it were between wharton and USC then the issue of prestige would be a factor...but we are talking about a pretty slim difference here. in your situation, youre constraining yourself if you let prestige become a deciding factor.

NYU would definitely be better because they have a better finance and international business program and they even have a center that does research on japanese and asian economy.
