I did many research...but I would like someone to tell me what you know about Stevens Institute of Technology.

What are you majoring in? Steven’s is mainly for engineering and business and has relatively strong programs.

Computer Engineering or Computer Science…
Do you think Stevens are good at that? (Well, what I mean is if others look up or down on them)

When I looked at the website, they seemed to have a lot of interesting options for CS. I don’t know much about the reputation, though.

Seems like a very nice place. I liked it a lot. Ranked 88 in National Universities, for whatever that’s worth. They must have a good reputation, because they have great placement and are highly ranked in Bloomberg’s ROI rating. At open house they gave a very impressive “sales pitch.” It’s definitely worth a visit.

It was just a “safety” school for my son, but has become his first choice after a couple of visits. He liked it so much after the first visit, he wanted to re-visit and make sure he still liked it as much. He does. He likes the small size and loves the proximity to NYC.

His top three were originally Cornell, RPI and Lehigh.
- He’s a tennis player and would probably not play at Cornell, because their team is already very strong. Also, it’s in the middle of nowhere. Cornell fell off the list.
- Sorry to say it out loud, but Troy, NY is an arm pit. My son hated it. RPI fell off the list.
- Lehigh seems very nice. My son likes the school and the coach very much and the team isn’t stacked with talent, so my son would definitely contribute. But he still likes Stevens better.

His major will be engineering.

I favor Lehigh. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVED Stevens! I’ve done a lot of research on my son’s top picks and Stevens is a strong University with a ton to offer. But Stevens is small and 3/4 male.

Lehigh is also a great University, but being larger, offering more majors, and having a more even male/female distribution, it may offer a better overall student experience. But it’s his decision.

At Morgan Stanley we pounce on good Stevens technology grads - we look at it as a top technology school. If tech is the thing - it is a good program.
