I don't get it... sorry its 3am and i just finished doing like 5 rooms for 100s night so i may not be coherent exactly, but why can't you just take the ACT one more time? you could probably get a higher score... in my experience, the more times i took the test, the higher score i got. And if you get a 24 you'll still keep the 27 score from what i understand right? well if you want to goto USAFA, then just take the test one more time... it shouldnt be much trouble.

If it helps... i had complications getting in USAFA for childhood asthma and I got the green light to go 5 days before in processing... so just keep trying, do everything you possibly can to get in, if you really want it that bad. And start early. I sent in my medical test results several months before in processing and they did not process them until a week before i in processed. If i were you... i'd take the ACT ASAP. if you got a 27 before it should be fairly easy 24 at least

hsiverio,

I just read ALL your threads on ALL of the academy forums and it seems you have posted quite a bit of inconsistent information.

If you are for real, you have stumbled upon a lot of good advice that you should be following ASAP.

If you are trolling, then I hope you've enjoyed yourself.

If you did cheat on a College Board exam, then you need to contact College Board immediately, find it within yourself to admit to it, and deal with the consequences.

I really hope that you're for real and that College Board is just requiring you to re-test due to some glitch of their own. I really hope there are not people out there that would cheat to gain entrance into a Service Academy.

Whatever place you're in, I wish you well and that you will choose the ethical route in solving any dilemmas.

It's only a "sticky situation" if you cheated on the test with the person next to you, the one who had the identical answers as you.

If you studied and scored a 27, what's the big deal? Study and take it again.

A 27 should be no problem, perhaps you'll get a higher score.

A refusal to re-take the test would be a "stickier" situation. ;)

I think you might have a larger problem at hand:

USAFA has my SAT score which is 590 Math and 570 Verbal
The AFA deems your verbal too low to be competitive in most cases. Your ACT is also considered low.

Why is this a problem? The SA is very challenging. As you can see through many threads, most of the cadets have much higher scores, high GPA's that include AP courses. With that knowledge I would assume that the classes are going to move very fast and you might have a problem keeping up with the class if you do not have a strong understanding of the material.

Did you take AP's and score 4 or 5, than maybe it is you just don't take the SAT/ACT format well, but if not, I would buckle down and really study.

Also you said on another thread your last SAT was in MAY, why didn't you re-take back in Sept to raise the scores? Again had you looked at the scoring process, it clearly states 570 V may be deemed non-competitive, so to get in with that score is a rarity.

This is directly from the AFA site

Students who score below 580 verbal and 560 math on the SAT I and below 24 English/reading and 25 math/science reasoning on the ACT normally will not be competitive for an appointment.

SAT Mid-50% Range Mean
Critical Reading/Verbal 590-660 629
Math 630-690 658

ACT Mid-50% Range Mean
English 27-31 29
Reading 28-32 30
Mathematics 28-32 30
Science Reasoning 27-31 29
With those scores 28 is the mid 50, and 30 is the mean

I wish you the best, now go and buy every book there is on the ACT....talk to your folks, ALO and regional

You certainly have plenty of time to study - the next ACT test is April 12th.

Per US Code: title 10, Subtitle D, Part III, Chapter 903

Cadets: Appointment by the President
Cadets at the Academy shall be appointed by the President alone. An appointment is conditional until the cadet is admitted.

WOW, that late?

I would have thought there was an ACT earlier, for kids in this situation, since the results would not be ready until @Memorial Day weekend. DS took in Oct. and didn't get his results in @ 5 weeks. I remember because, he didn't take the written portion and kids who did, didn't get theirs back until Dec 15th, which was an ED deadline date for some colleges

After reading this guys threads in the other forums I came over here...after I read his nom was from GA 07 Linder, I was intrigued...as this is my area. So, I pulled the newspaper out and low and behold, but our friend Matthew does indeed have Linder's nom for AFA....however, the dates are wrong that he states...no one found out as early as he states. Additionally, NONE of the Georgia MOC's gave primary noms this year. So, he does have a nom...and here he states he's going to AFA...but at the USMA board he states he's going there....something smells fishy to me.

He had stated that he posted everywhere to get the most input. He also stated that he has a presidential, so it is possible to get in the door that way prior to other people, I think that must be the source because for an MOC everyone on the slate must submit before the slate goes up. I know from CC and Service Academy forums, that certain MOC slates for NC and NJ is not up due to the fact that there are people who had not submitted their CFA as of last week.
Of course if anyone had an LOA, all they needed is the nom, which might be the case.

hsiverio,

I'm pretty sure you're waking up this morning, wiping the sleeping sand out of your eyes, logging in o see if you got any responses to your dilema, and just about now, went: "WOW. Oh boy, did I get some repsonses!"

You may have noticed that quite a few by now have either 1) accused you of lieing, cheating, and just plain being a very-not-so-nice kid. 2) Have called you out in blunt or rude language. 3) Did both 1 and 2. You got to be asking yourself, "why all the Haters picking on me?" Remember, a lot of the folks on these thread are either students still waiting for an envelope saying they made it in, ot are the parents of those said kids. They look at your post and your stats, and ask themselves, "How can this kid already be in, when my son's/daughter's stats are WAAAY better? He's not a recruited athlete, not some Westinghouse winner, and he hasn't cured cancer that I know of? Why him and not me / my child?" The next step in their minds is "This isn't fair. Better yet, this in't real. This kid must be lieing", and then the closer looks at your posts begin, to include researching your MOC's noms to see if what you said is really the case.

Bottom Line: you've caused a lot of questions and just a little anger on the SA forums. Some here will start some real nasty attacks. If it is the case you are lieing on here, these attacks are deserved and I recommend you apologize to all.

Here's your chance to nip that in the bud. Are you sure you aren't simply an "official candidate" to all the service academies. There is a difference between being a "candidate" (means you put your paperwork in, and the academy finds you competitive to this point. You even get a nice post card formthe academies saying: "You are an Official Candidate"), and have received an appointment (you got the really big envelope from the Academy with a letter up front saying you have received an "Appointment").

Hey, you're still a HS kid. You may have made a simple mistake, which would explain a lot of the inconsistencies. Is this the case? If so, just let us know, so we can all go, "OOOOOh, THAT explains it. Sorry I called this kid all those names in my head. He's just a little confused on terminology and the process."

Now, if you did receive 4 appointments, that's a different story. They ARE a lot of inconsistencies in your stats compared to the typical highly competitive applicant. If this is the case, "Lucy, you've got some 'splainin to do!" Understand how we can get jealous of your luck, be honest with us and explain how you got 4 golden tickets.

As to your ACT, you've gotten tons of good advice already. Bottom Line: Talk to those in the admissions process and tell the honest story, then just take it again.

You've stirred a hornet's nest here, my boy. Be honest, or expect to get stung.....

Maybe he's confusing LOA's with appointments.
We are in the same county, and therefore have the same MOC. After looking at my son's nom letter dates (Linder=12/6, Isaakson=11/16 , Chambliss was a week later, but son doesn't have his), there are inconsistencies. If he has LOA's mixed up with appointments, that would explain a lot of what he said.

Perhaps it is all a misunderstanding; if that is the case, I sincerely apologize for the harshness of my words. May hsiverio safely land at the academy of his choice.

Bullet, I don't sting that hard. ;) jk of course.
