Well, my daughter still didn't hear from CMU. I guess I won't have to fret about paying the exorbitant $34,000 tuition each year, not to mention the cost of living increases.

For those in the same boat, you should note that she isn't saddened about this. It makes her decision easier about which college to pick among those that accepted her. It also provides us parents with more money for other things such as cars for kids.

Last year CMU sent out both good and bad decisions over a two week period, so I think it's possible she'll be accepted. I'm not sure what they're doing this year.

I don't know if this is of any relevance to others waiting but D just received a call from CMU in regard to questions she might have about the program she was accepted into. Thing is we have no letter and no website update.

Interesting- I believe in the last week, Women@SCS started calling accepted female SCS majors. It hadn't crossed my mind that calls might be made before letters were received.

yea i didnt hear from cmu yet either...i actually lost my id so i could never check my online decision. oh well, i choose haverford and uchicago over cmu anyway

The Sprout took the ME route to HCI, probably because he needs to know how things work. I think that many of the HCI people are not from engineering but from other fields. His next school, the HCI is in the Computer Science School. The school he got waitlisted has HCI in Humanities(?).

I think his design skills need to greatly improve. His engineering and computer skills are pretty good. When his penmanship improves, then he'll arrive. JIMO.

No hints at all at your daughter's online information on Where Am I In The Process or Now That You're Accepted, Taxguy?

Our mail typically runs late and we actually found out our S had been accepted online before the letter arrived (not that we told him). I'm surprised that you haven't heard anything either online or through the mail.

Good luck both at CMU and, more importantly, in the whole process everywhere.

I haven't heard from CMU yet, although the site says it was mailed on the 28th. I've already assumed that I'm rejected, but it'd be great if they could just make it official...

and they haven't given me a decision on my site either...

HCI at CMU falls in the HCI institute (department) under the school of computer science at CMU. To undergrads, it is offered only as a second major. Something like 6 spots in each class are reserved for CS majors, 6 for design, 6 for H&SS, and 7 for anyone. The application is a proposed plan for how you'll take all the classes in four years and an essay saying why you want to be in the major. I'm considering applying, but I'm not very sure yet.

i called the office because mine was mailed on 28th (tuesday) but I haven't received it yet. Apparently, even though it was "mailed" on 28th, the letters didn't actually go out till 30th (thursday). I don't understand why its so hard for them to mail them on time when other colleges are sending their mails in one or two days
