Lehigh posts at 5PM today. I think we should hear something from Bing by Monday.

Yeah, I would agree. Instead of them saying we would hear by April 1, it would have been nicer for them to just say ON April 1. Anyway, the more I read about our next choice and the job fairs and job offers people have gotten, the more I am ok with whatever Binghamton says.

My sons friend heard recently. He applied to the Business school If any of you dont get accepted, just know it could just be the amount of seats alloted to each program.

Wasnt this a nice NO from Lehigh? Thought I would share:
The Committee on Admission has completed its review of applications for the Class of 2017, and you have been placed on our waiting list. Although we cannot offer you admission at the present time, the option for future consideration is being extended to you because of the strength of your application.
They let you know at the end of April…not that we are waiting…so now we wait for Bing.

I agree, DRf …

D has already written Bing off. In fact, I’m the only one in the house that’s still waiting on Bing!

GCmom, it really does seem like that. I would otherwise suggest again EA in the future (I still have 2 more to go through this process) but 1 of the 2 finalists for my D was via EA application … granted she got in straight away but still. It feels like we were put in a back office and they forgot about our applicants.

I now know of another student that got in that took a much lighter load than my D and has a lower GPA, SAT scores, didn’t have the sports award or NHS that my D did. She’s a great kid and deserves tons but when compared to my D, I can’t help but feel like my D’s app got lost.

Re-visits start at the end of this next week … either way, this process is going to be over SOON!! YAY for that!

That was a nice note and end of April is extremely generous!

Interesting waitlist email from Lehigh thanks for posting GCMom- wonder if it’s like Cornell where last year they accepted around 3,000, waitlisted around 3,000 and admitted a little over 100 from the waitlist…Binghamton does say on their website that whatever decision is handed down is final; there is no appeals process.

S is becoming more and more excited about admission to what was originally his second choice. The very late notification by BU must cause many of the RD applicants to become emotionally invested elsewhere as it has with my son. Good luck all!

Finally, Deferred to Spring 2014. Son is “whatever” Deposits already in to UB Honors. In the meantime…Go SU! Beat Marquette!

penzly did your son hear back through the status checker or mail?

us mail, this morning. We live in Syracuse

my friend just heard back through email- she got accepted into the college of community and public affairs instead of Harpur. very disappointed because she didn’t apply to this school and had intentions of attending Harpur. Had 1270/2000, above 90 avg and applied in october but was deferred. lots of work experience and extra curics. this is so odd… did anyone else get this offer???

I have been following this blog for the past week. My daughter did not receive any mail from Binghamton today. I guess that we all must wait until Monday. She also applied EA. More than 1/4 of her graduating class applied there and so far 13 were admitted. My friend’s daughter applied EA and was also deferred but she received an acceptance letter a coup,e of weeks ago. I am beginning to thing that my daughter is not getting in or will possibly be wait listed. Good luck to everyone.

Last year my daughter applied to Harpur, but was accepted to CCPA. She transferred into Harpur after the first semester.

NYMomLi- was the CCPA on the same campus as Harpur? What grades did she have to maintain to get into harpur 2nd semester? was it an easy transfer and was she with other students from harpur in the same classes or is CCPA classes different?

bingo13 I also received the e-mail regarding an offer to CCPA. Although I replied back with my B number, name, and birthdate to show my continuing interest in Binghamton, I am not sure about whether Binghamton is still the school for me. Is CCPA an easier program or does it weigh equally with the other schools? I researched a bit and it said something about a downtown campus? Does that mean we’ll be separated from the rest of the Binghamton students?

Hi folks,

My name is Rob and I’m a Binghamton University Student Ambassador. Hopefully, I can clear up some confusion regarding the CCPA.

The University Downtown Center (UDC) that a lot of you have heard about does indeed host some classes for the CCPA, but not all. Often more advanced classes are the ones that are held in the UDC. The majority of your classes even as a Human Development major, which is the undergraduate major offered by the CCPA, are offered on the main campus. This is especially true in the first two years, when you aren’t yet taking advanced classes.

Housing for CCPA students is identical to housing for students at all the other schools, so you will not be separated from the rest of the college in any way.

CCPA students can take classes within Harpur college, and they almost always do to fulfill their general education requirements.

Intra-University Transfers (IUT) are available from CCPA into Harpur. The requirements to get an IUT into Harpur are rather lenient compared to some of the other colleges. You generally need a GPA of 2.7 or higher. This is the only requirement, and those who do not meet this requirement can even be accepted for an IUT on a case-by-case basis. Your IUT is not guaranteed to be accepted, as there are considerations made for space availability, but I’ve never heard of anyone having an incredibly difficult time getting an IUT into Harpur. Since CCPA students can take classes in Harpur College, you could even use your first semester or two in CCPA to fulfill Harpur coursework.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Sincerely,
Rob Clark

S waitlisted, applied to Watson 1310 SAT. Probably will attend Buffalo for engineering.

muffy did you find out online or through mail?

i received an email for registration for admitted student day… i went to check application status but found nothing. Does the email mean i’ve been accepted or what?

Bingo13 - The classes for CCPA take place in downtown Binghamton, but you wouldn’t start taking those classes until your junior year. My daughter took her first semester classes with everybody else at Harpur. She had a 3.3 and was able to transfer to Harpur with no problem. If your child wants to go to Binghamton, I would suggest taking the seat at CCPA…
