my first practice test i got 1810 without even looking at the structure of the SAT (im from canada, and i didnt know what the SAT even was haha)

then i read the princeton review guide. i wrote a second practice test after that, and i still only scored 1930! my CW score was above 700 (730 or 740 i think) but i just guessed on what score my essay would get. my CR is really low, and so is my math!

i seem to be running out of time on the math section before i even get to the harder questions. how can i avoid this? for the CR section and the grammar sections, i always have like 10 minute left and i dunno what i can really do else because i look over my questions as i go.

does anyone have any advice or tips? im not writing til may so i have time to improve.

Well, that explains a lot. Reading the PR book honestly will not do much for your score. You will not improve unless you work with practice questions and understand the underlying concepts for real TCB written SAT questions. I'm assuming that you have the BB, work through it, and make sure you understand each of the questions.

As for math, I don't know how it could take that long... you REALLY have to start moving on the first 10 questions of each sections (those are generally the really easy ones). The final 10, you want to be VERY careful on, as that is usually where all the traps are set.

If you have that much extra time on writing, you're either REALLY fast, or not approaching the questions the right way. If you are just going about the questions by ear, you are not going to get a very good score. I suggest you pick up either RR or Maximum SAT. (although if you're getting 730 and 740... you should be good.)

CR... god. idk. just get out and read. Or do practice problems. Or both. Just practice ok?

haha i dont even know what the BB is. im assuming its useful. its hard to find SAT books where I live in canada. i guess ill have to resort to ordering them online.

and i honestly dont know why the math questions take me so long. i usually get stuck on one question, and it just gets to me that i cant answer it, so i stay on it for too long.

BB is the Official SAT Study Guide by Collegeboard... I don't know how you can study if you haven't gone through those practice tests.

If that's the case with math questions, you need to just move on. Those questions usually test a specific concept, and if you don't know it, you probably can't figure it out.

haha well i just ordered the official sat study guide online...and apparently theres a 20 dollar shipping fee to canada.... haha but oh well.

hopefully that will help!

im also wondering about subject tests. im taking bio, french and math 2. i have princeton reviews for bio and math 2 haha. are those gonna help me any? french will be super easy because im fluent, and bio should be okay because im self studying AP bio and also taking my senior bio course this year too. but math 2 i think im gonna faillll. any advice?

PR is great for bio. PR is okay for math I guess, but most people prefer Barron's. I didn't use any book to study, so I can't give a personal opinion.
