Honestly I’m just getting so anxious/frustrated I think I’m going to give McGill a few more days until I just choose another school…

The chronic inability of a person to finish a job in time is often a simptom of serious phychological disorders. For an institution, this is also a bad sign. The McGill admission office is already two weeks behind the time scale for US applicants, and they didn’t even find it necessary to apologize.

Hey today I just got my acceptance decisions after having reviewed-decision pending since November for my Science, I also got accepted into engineering earlier as well. Did anyone else get their decisions today?

Congratulations f1uttershy! Would you mind posting your stats? :)

I was accepted today too, to the faculty of sciences! Though I was waitlisted to BASC, I’m pretty content since I wanted BAs more.
My decision has been decision pending for the longest time too. I was seriously surprised that I finally got admitted. I really do think that they have just way too many people to filter through, and they do pick and choose before giving decisions (which sucks for us and reflects poorly on their part).
My stats aren’t amazing or anything, but I had expected to get accepted earlier at least. I’m a US student. My GPA stands to be 3.9/4.0. I had a 90%+ in everything except AP calculus and computer science elective (85% for both of those), and I took most of the APs for the core subjects offered at my school. I scored a 31 on the ACT and had 700+ on all my SAT II’s. I think I’m average for McGill but I really started losing faith when I still didn’t have my decision 2 weeks after they had said that they’d give US students their decisions by March 27. Excluding the “first round” of acceptances (from February), I don’t think RDP is such a bad status as of today. They deny students early on, that they know they will never accept, so at least you aren’t one of those while you’re kept in the RDP pile. That status, I believe (so don’t hold me to this), has less to do with your eligibility than it has to do with McGill’s crappy service and time crunching abilities…
Then again, I guess it’s understandable since they do receive a crapton of applicants from all over the world. If they were any faster, they would have acceptance rates like University of Toronto, which actually just accepts you right off the bat if you adhere to their minimum GPA requirement and keeps doing so since they can afford to with all the space that they have. The result is that you have a varying range of students attending UoT…some are geniuses and others, not so much. This is why UoT has a relatively high drop-out rate. At least McGill’s system, though frustrating, tries it’s best to accept people they really do believe are qualified enough to pass the courses with decent if not amazing grades. Anyways, good luck to all the rest of you on your wait; I know it’s truly annoying but get it off your mind for a bit and don’t obsess too much!

“I guess it’s understandable”
No, not at all. Don’t compare them to UoT - compare them to any of the scores of American schools with comparable numbers of applicants and Jan. 1 or 15 application deadlines. These schools consider students holistically and don’t just let them in for meeting a threshold for grades, and they are still capable of delivering decisions in a timely manner. Giving students a huge range of dates for decision notifications and then not adhering to that schedule without notifying applicants of any delay is absolutely ridiculous, especially since their only promise is “by May 1” which is the deposit deadline for many other schools.

Plus you can only apply for an entrance bursary after you’ve been admitted. How long does it take them to get an aid letter to you?

Anyone have the link to Minerva? I keep trying but it says The link to Minerva is out of date? Someone please post the link if it works if you’d be so kind. Thanks a lot.

@VivianNgo82
Sure!

Departments i got accepted into: Engineering and Science

I have a 4.11 GPA weighted to where AP’s count for 5’s.

Canadians mostly examine your junior and senior year of high school
where I took, AP Calc AB, AP Calc BC, AP Chem, AP Bio, AP Physics, AP Comp, AP Lit, AP Computer Science, AP Statistics, AP US History, and French III and got A’s in all of them except AP Comp and AP Lit.

My demographic is a Canadian citizen(born in Canada) who is asian currently living in Fairbanks, Alaska.

@MontrealImpact
https://horizon.mcgill.ca should work
My ACT’s were 31 with math and science being 33+. I didn’t send SAT’s so they are irrelevant.

Thanks fluttershy. The link worked great . At least you have given me hope lol. Still nothing but I have a 4.67 weighted and a 3.8 unweighted and applied to engineering as well. My ACT kinda sucked at a 28 but my SAT was a 2120 (760 math) so hopefully I get in.

Congrats by the way

Congrats to people who got accepted!

I noticed that many applicants were accepted few days ago. It seems that the Faculty of Science is continuing sending out offers. However, my application, both for Engineering and Science are still shown as “R-DP.” As a US applicant, I will need to pay my deposit which is about $1050 to school! I hope I will hear good news from McGill before I pay, because if I get accepted I will definitely go…

Any other US applicants for Engineering or Science still have R-DPs?

@barcelotina, im a faculty of sciene applicant too from the US…still r-dp):

Waitlisted for Chem E, accepted into civil engineering. How are the prospects for the waitlist?

How long does this bursary business typically take?

US applicant to faculty of science. Are they still accepting students or is this the phase for waitlists and rejections.

@barcelotina ya I’m a us applicant to chem and mech. Engineering still R-DP… Getting a bit frustrated.

still R-DP ugh i want to know soon so i can chose my university already, may 1st is coming up so soon.

Have you guys paid the deposit yet, or are you going to pay it on May 1st? I’m planing to pay mine next Sunday.

You can pay the deposit before you get accepted?

I meant paying the deposit to the US school.

I’m an international student and I’ve been accepted for Electrical Engineering but I am still waiting for Civil. I am on R-DP since more than 3 weeks and still no reply.

Hello all.
I’m a dad of an American who has applied to McGill (two programs: B.Sc. and B.A&Sc.). We were in Reviewed-Decision Pending status for a long time, and I periodically looked at this forum to see other students in the same situation. Now I have some experience to share, that may provide hope or insight to someone this year or in coming years visiting this page.

My son is a good student-- almost all A’s and a 31 ACT. Not Einstein but good. Shortly after we applied (~Feb), we were in R-DP on both programs. And it stayed like that. And stayed like that. It is maddening. Finally around April 1, the status on the B.A&Sc. program changed to waiting list. Oh well. Still R-DP on the B.Sc.

Then, on 23 April (!!) the status on the B.Sc. also changed to waiting list. Damn. I told my son to give up on McGill and move on. Two days later he texts me that the status on BOTH of them changed to “accepted.” Good grief, what a rollercoaster. Now I’m making last-minute flights and appointments to visit McGill before the 15 May decision deadline. (We already have sent the deposit to Ohio State University, so we’re good there. Of course we lose it if he goes to McGill.)

I’m 99% sure he will go to McGill.

Anyway, guys, I just wanted to share that, for what it’s worth, since I’ve benefited from reading your posts. I hope it doesn’t raise false hopes, but maybe it also says not to give up.

Good luck to all, whatever your choice is!
