So my status changed on February 13th to “Reviewed–Decision Pending” for both applications to science and interfaculty arts and science. I thought my stats were considered good for McGill (35 ACT, 3.981 UW GPA) but I guess not? Anyways, I was hoping this thread could be the place for people with “RDP” to share their final results…
Did you get an update?
Have you got a response? My status also is currently “Reviewed - Decision Pending.”
It’s been that for around a month now.
Because some people get confused with McGill terminology, here is what “Reviewed - Decision Pending” means (taken directly from McGill’s website):
"We have received all the necessary documents.
In the initial review your application was deemed more competitive than those already refused were but less competitive than those already admitted. That places your application in the “grey zone”. Gradually during the cycle, as we fill the spaces in each program the “grey zone” will shrink and the final admission threshold will be determined.
At this time, there is little for you to do apart from checking Minerva regularly for changes. Offers of admissions are released in order of a merit. Check for estimated decision release dates
Please note that decisions may take longer for certain programs or for applicants with extenuating circumstances."
So basically no one can predict when a certain candidate will receive a decision when s/he is under the “Reviewed - Decision Pending” status. It may take weeks of months, depending, among other things, on the applicant pool you belong to, the program you’re applying for, and if you have extenuating circumstances.
Here is the link for the estimated decision release dates: https://mcgill.ca/applying/nextsteps/decision
I know how it feels to wait forever for a decision but try to not let this rule your life.
Nope… still RDP
Hang in there kjokeefe!
I’m sure we’ll get an update soon.
Hey, my status is always “ready to review”. What does that mean?
It just means they haven’t gotten to your application yet… when they do your status will change to either accepted, denied, waitlisted, or RDP
Mine is still “further review required” which is rather weird because I completed my checklist more than a month ago!
I emailed them and they said that my application has been viewed but they still haven’t made a decision given that their application process is very competitive.
However, I don’t see why my status hasn’t been changed to RDP yet.
The same thing is happening to my twin’s portal… I’m not really sure what their strategy is but I’m just hoping it all sorts itself out by May 1
My twin just got accepted today and I’m still on RDP… very confused because we have identical stats.
@kjokeefe
I’m still on further review required, and my stats are way higher than last year’s cut off too. Have you/ your twin applied for the major scholarship?
@HYPSM2024
Neither one of us applied for scholarships. It’s just so random!
@kjokeefe At this point we can only hope for the best— apparently the admission process really is a crapshoot
@kjokeefe Did you and your twin apply to the same program? If not that could be the reason.
Nope, we both applied to the same 2 programs…plus I toured the school and she didn’t. She even applied on January 15th while I applied back in October!!
I’ve also been rdp for more than a month now (it really feels like months though) it’s so frustrating… I’m hoping that as the US decisions come in people will cancel their applications (as they get into their top schools) and make room for us to be admitted!! Best of luck to everyone!
I just contacted the admissions office over the phone (which is incredibly hard to do for some reason) and they basically told me that they hope to get decisions out soon but they can’t provide a date or a promise that it will be before the US national deadline. It’s incredible how unhelpful they can be compared to pretty much any college in the US, every possible search for decision dates just takes me to that awful chart basically telling me my decision could come any time during the year 2020.
Just an fyi: My son’s guidance counselor reached out to McGill admissions on his behalf (he goes to an New York high school that sends several students to McGill every year). They told her that they’d continue sending out decisions throughout April and early May. So while it doesn’t necessarily help with US college admissions, seems like it won’t stretch into June.
Hey everyone, I’m new to CC. I’m from a US HS and applied to McGill in December (a bit late). I needed to get my ACT score as high as possible before I felt confident enough to submit. I’ve been on RDP since about February, and I’m worried I won’t hear back before I have to commit to my #2 school on May 1. Just thought I’d share for anyone else going through it right now
