According to Bankrate.com, you need 26.5% higher income in SF to maintain the same standard of living that you have in Boston.</p>
<p>SF is not the same as Berkeley.</p>

<p>i just mention this because i was speaking to a recent graduate of a Berkeley doctoral program about how perpetually broke the state of California is.</p>
<p>i personally think 27K is definitely enough to live on.</p>
<p>Tha award letter reads $27000 (based on a 12 month appointment). Entering students' stipends is based on an 11-month appointment.
Does ttha mean that the award is less for the 1st year?</p>
