Stock Broker Questions!?!?!?!

I am really interested in becoming a stock broker and I was wondering what exactly I would need to become one? What major, internships, experience? Also salary questions? Any help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you want to be a stock broker, there are three majors that come to mind: Economics, Finance, and Math. As far as internships go, I don't think you really need one, because most brokerage offices are independently owned. I would recommend that you read up on economics and finance. And start out trading with a virtual stock market account. I like www.investopedia.com once you get good enough there, start investing your own money by day trading. Online brokerages I like would be E-trade, ameritrade, and scottrade. I would say, start out with $500, and go through scottrade. Since it's only $500 to start, along with $7 limit/market orders, and pennies are only like .005% more on commission. As far as pay, there really is no limit. It all depends on how good you are with the market. For instance, I made 117% last year. So if I invested $1000, I'd have $2117 now. If I invested $100,000, I'd have $217,000, thus I'd make $117,000 in a year.

Another question. Is becoming a stock broker as hard as an investment banker. The people in the MBA forum salivate at becoming i-bankers and always dread about how hard it is.

I am also interested in stock broking. But i am totally a beginner and know almost nothing about the US market. Where should I start? any suggestion about book, news or online article to get a sense of how to start? Thankyou

What companies do you work for as stock broker? What education is required? MBA or just a bachelors?

I have an interview with a stock broking firm tommorow and they have told me that I have to pass a SIA Exam. Does anyone have any info on this or how to prepare?

Stock brokers: go to college, graduate college, pass series 7 and 63 (by the way you have to sponsored for a series 7). And as a stockbroker you're most likely also going to be a wealth manager/financial advisor.

You may just end up being in sales or in a call center as a FA. Quant traders are different, however. Trading is even more difficult and requires more tangibles than ibankers.

l33twArR10r in order to get the Series 7 license you have to finish [Series 7 Preparation](https://testeachersonline.com/iphone_apps) cources and then pass the exam. There are many online training solutions available today, but I would recommend you this [Series 7 Preparation App](http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/series-7-exam-preparation/id350592740?mt=8) It is easy-to-use and very affordable comparing with other training methods.
