For those that have received merit aid - where in the portal did you see it and how long after you were accepted did you get merit aid notification?
Son applied early action and SB was quick to accept him. OOS so hoping for merit aid but haven’t seen any yet.
It’s been 2+ months since his acceptance. Any chance he could still get merit aid?

My daughter received email with attachment for scholarship. There is no info in the portal . She got accepted on 11/30 (acceptance letter dated 11/24) and scholarship email on 12/23.

is merit aid only given for OOS or do in-state students get them too?

yup… i’m bio too lol

should I call the admissions office and see where they are at with my decision. Usually rolling admissions take 4-6 and its been more than 2 months…

Email your admission counselor.

ya me too it just passed the 2 month mark

does everyone have different admissions counselors? did you message yours about it?

Daughter is BioChem & has been waiting 4 months. Not sweating though luckily applied to some out of states and got scholarship that beats our instate suny costs.

I did message my admission counselor. She said almost all decisions are sent by early March.

Well that’s good since March is only a couple months away. This being my number one choice has really made me nervous.

Just got the admission decision today for Biomed engineering. got in waiting on honors and other apps

does anyone know if you can self tour stony brook. Ik there wont be any group tours bc of covid. but is it possible to walk around the campus with no person guide.

We did a self tour back in the fall. School was in session, but we didn’t see a ton of students on campus. We walked much of the campus, saw some lecture halls, campus center, computer science building, visited the Wang Center, football stadium, and grabbed lunch at Starbucks.

do you have to talk to someone prior to visiting the campus? also what time is optimal to go?

We didn’t speak with anyone prior to going. We just showed up, parked in the garage next to the administration building, and started walking. We arrived around mid-afternoon and were there maybe 2-3 hours.
We had dinner at Smith Haven Mall to kill some time and miss rush hour traffic before heading home.
If traffic is a concern, I’d recommend getting there earlier in the day than we did, which was our plan but it just didn’t work out that way.
