@LOLHELPME No, I haven’t heard anything yet sadly. Hopefully soon though!
I heard a lot of decisions go out this week!
@snoogleki That’s what I first thought lol but I’m not sure. I know I had much lower stats than some people who had higher stats than me and I heard back a little bit earlier. So just keep holding on and keep your eyes open!
@connetquotreppin Aw man, don’t stress too much! As I said before, just keep having hope! I really hope you hear back soon. Keep me updated, friend.
@LOLHELPME thanks man! If you don’t mind me asking, did you ever send your mid year grades?
Omg I was just gona call stony Monday and ask if the mid year grade is necessary !
I thought you don’t need it unless they ask for it. @sbuniv @connetquotreppin
@sbuniv well I think my grades will help my chances of getting in as I’m still working really hard. I called Friday and an admissions rep said it doesn’t hurt to send it in. I’ll call again Monday to make sure as I wanna send them asap.
@connetquotreppin @sbuniv @snoogleki Yup, I asked my guidance counselor to send in my mid-year reports to all my schools and she did. (Btw, I thought it was required but then again, I could be wrong???) But I definitely agree with the admissions representative @connetquotreppin spoke to; it doesn’t hurt to send in mid-year grades if you’re having a good (academic) senior year!
@LOLHELPME do you think it helped your case in particular of being admitted? I hope you’re pumped!
@connetquotreppin In my opinion, yes, I actually think it helped my application a ton because as I mentioned before, my SAT scores were horrendous. So yes, I also encourage you to send them as you have mentioned you’re trying your best this year.
@LOLHELPME that’s awesome! Yeah I definitely will. How long did it take for the grades to be received and actually reviewed? Any idea?
@snoogleki hope not and dont think so. Most of the applicants who were accepted before I was (3/1) had lower gpas, scores, and less ecs. My guess is that maybe it’s alphabetic because my friend heard a rejection a few weeks earlier to my acceptance and his last name blah blah blah.
brrr no way I can send in my mid year grade caz my overall went from a 4.0 to 3.9 after first term senior yr…
@connetquotreppin Thanks a bunch, man! And I asked my guidance counselor to submit my mid-year grades on or about January 29th or January 30th and according to my Common App, Stony Brook downloaded my mid-year grades on January 31st. However, I have no idea why it was downloaded as an optional report and not a mid-year report??? But whatever, at least they received it lol. So yeah, tell me how it goes for you though!!!
@snoogleki Aw okay, well it’s not that horrible but at least Stony Brook didn’t ask for your mid-year grades yet.
@sbuadmissions , starting to get a bit nervous. Could we have an update on the number of admits? And will we see rejection letters come out soon?

Congrats @Richardconter! How were you notified? Email, portal or snail mail?
@Crazeemomof2 Thanks! I was notified through an email that had informed me that my admission decision was posted.
@LOLHELPME Hey man, so I sent them in on Monday afternoon. Are you sure the common app updated the status upon them receving it or did solar? I have no way of telling if they received my grades or not.
Just got a call from the Dean of Admissions inviting me to an open house and the campus. So cool! She said that our merit aid will be out within the next two weeks.
@Richardconter Congrats friend! I’m so happy that you got in! Will you be attending?
@connetquotreppin Yes, I believe the Common App indicates if your schools received documents that were submitted to them via Common App. For instance, once something is submitted to the school, Common App would say “submitted” with the submission date right next to the specific document. When the schools receive your document, Common App would say “downloaded” with the downloaded date right next to the specific document. Just give your schools time to download and/or view the documents. I really hope you get in to Stony Brook; hopefully, you hear within this week!
