@CaliCash That’s really awesome! Congrats.
@LOLHELPME I see. My common app still shows December 9, 2014, the date I submitted my application.
Also, my counselor faxed my grades to SBU’s fax number Mon. afternoon. Do you think that will have any effect? I really hope I get in too; thanks a lot for all the info and optimism man! I appreciate it.
@connetquotreppin Hmmm, that sounds strange but don’t worry too much about it. And no, I think faxing in your mid-year grades is absolutely fine. Just call the admissions office to make sure everything was submitted and if they received your mid-year grades. And no problem, I’ll be here rooting for you until you get in. :+)
Got an email this afternoon regarding my acceptance to EOP program! Along with an invitation to a special event in the NYC area.
@LOLHELPME Yeah. I was kinda hesitant to call the office and provide my name and everything but I guess that’s what I will do. I heard A LOT of decisions go out all this week so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Appreciate it brotha
@waldoo15 Omg that’s amazing!!! Congrats friend!!! I might also be attending the special reception for the NYC area too. :+)
@connetquotreppin Aw, I feel you mannn!!! That’s me all the time; I’m so paranoid about that kinda stuff and giving out my information like that. But don’t worry, like I said, the call would clear up any misunderstandings and such. And I’m sure you aren’t the only one who will be calling to ask about this stuff so don’t be nervous! And I have my fingers crossed for you too - keep me updated!!! I was literally in this position like two weeks ago and my mom just declared me as psycho lol.
@LOLHELPME Lol man, that’s funny. Yeah I will definitely be doing that tomorrow! Thanks!
When is the NYC event?
@connetquotreppin There’s two receptions: one on March 12, 2015 from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. and the other one on March 20, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Hopefully, you hear back by then.
@LOLHELPME That’s awesome! Yes, hopefully.
@LOLHELPME Thank you! Most likely not because I’m leaning more towards the west coast aha.
So, I have heard that the date that you apply does not affect the time of your acceptance. How could this be true? I applied in early December and have yet to receive any sort of change or notification via SOLAR or e-mail. I’m honestly freaking out. Here are my stats:
Intended Major: Computer Science
GPA: 88.23% (On my transcript I messed up my freshman year and somehow my 81% of my eighth grade regents was counted…the rest of my grades are 91-94% per semester.)
SAT BD: CR: 710 M: 630 W: 610 (superscored) 600 unsupered
SAT II: Literature 710 Bio E/M 630
Rank: My school is super competitive and is pretty up there, 80/123. I’ve been told again and again that rank doesn’t matter, though.
AP: World History 3 US History 3 English Language 3 Biology 3 Calc 2
Haven’t sent these in yet.
Senior Classes: Chem Engineering Bio Engineering Math Models Comp Sci AP Lit AP Macroeconomics Part in Government
Essay: Had AP Lit teacher read it and a few other english teachers and they thought it was really good. Was encouraged to send it into a competition
Rec: Pretty good
Honors: AP Scholars
Extracurriculars at School:
9th grade: PSAL Cross Country JV at Brooklyn Latin (transferred out after freshman year)
10th grade: Member of Red Cross Club
11th grade: President of GFX Club, Member of Key Club
12th grade: President of GFX Club, Webmaster of Key Club
Volunteer Services:
Kitchen hand at two different senior centers through the program of city meals on wheels for 30 hours, electric bassist at some fundraisers/Galas/games for about 28 hours at least, volunteered at a couple of soup kitchens for about 10 hours total, and some other key club community service events
Other:
NYS Resident
School is gifted and talented + nationally recognized
First Generation student
90-100k bracket

About 95% of those that applied in my school have been accepted into SBU already, even those with lower stats with me. I’m freaking out.
They did mess something up with my freshman transcript though, which was included in the whole transcript i sent which makes me wonder if my application was somehow still under the incomplete section or something.
Sorry if this is to much to ask, but can you inform the post when you do get accepted?
If I do, haha! Nothing yet…and more acceptances all around me. I am genuinely happy for them… but it also makes me a bit nervous.
Just got my merit package! Total of $4,500 per year.
@CaliCash, hey congrats. I got the same amount today too. Do you know if that’s our final merit scholarship, or can we get more if we also get into Honors?
@CaliCash and @StillWaitingHere did you find that out in a letter, email or in solar?
I got mine in an email late last night. I think its coming out throught the day.
Thanks @"stillwaitinghere I will make sure my son is checking his email
Got scholarship notif. this morning , nothing special at all …$3500/yr for 4 years…
Well it does make an already very reasonable tuition (relatively speaking) that much more doable. Son has been accepted to some higher ranked private schools, and even with their pretty generous merit offers, stony brook is still a bargain. Going to be some tough decisions to make.
