I just hope there will be spots left by the time they get to my application! so many acceptances are probably out by now
@ShahniyalJaved Omg congrats friend!!! I’m so happy you got in!!! Are you excited and do you plan to attend? :+)
@AlbertCollege Hey man, as @ShahniyalJaved mentioned, Stony Brook does not require you to submit a supplemental essay. However, I do believe there is a supplemental essay(s) for Stony Brook’s Honor College and other special programs. But don’t worry if you didn’t apply to those specific programs!
@Dawn2015 THAT’S EXACTLY HOW I FEEL. I really hope they have acceptances for us as well, though. Just keep having hope!

My Stats aren’t all that great, but I think my essay was the reason I was accepted .
Any idea when the next batch is coming? Also I’ve heard that you’ve already accepted 5,000 applicants. How many do you generally accept?
@AlbertCollege they sent out 5000 decisions. Not acceptances
@Lalalalalax CONGRATS FRIEND!!! I’m so proud of you! And you have amazing stats! Do you plan on attending?
@LOLHELPME Thanks! I want to see if I was accepted to NYU & BARNARD. After I see their financial aid packet I 'll decide. What are your stats?
About 5,000 decisions so far (Jan 27 or so), only admits so far. Based on the public stats that is about half of the admits handed out in past years (collegesimply.com says approx 11,000 accepts). It would be good to understand how close to the full number of accepts we are over time, through about mid-March or so.
@Lalalalalax No problem and I wish you the best of luck throughout your college application process! I also applied to NYU so I hope to hear back from them as well. However, Stony Brook is my dream college so I’m waiting to hear back from them the most!!! And these are my stats:
- G.P.A.: 94.23 (unweighted)
- Currently taking four college classes
- SAT Superscore: 1790
- Critical Reading Score: 570
- Math Score: 610
- Writing Score: 610
- ACT Composite Score: 26
- Extracurriculars: volunteering by delivering home meals, museum internship, apprentice at after-school program, job at a retail store, participant of Jiu-Jitsu
I believe my standardized test scores are gonna be the downfall of my application. Everyone that heard back from Stony Brook already had MUCH higher stats than me and I’m stressing my butt off. Sigh. But I guess I just have to keep waiting.
Anyways, my wishes are with you and I really hope you receive admission from whatever college you plan to go to!!! :+)
Keep hanging in there, guys! Hopefully, we all hear back soon with great news. Once again, congrats to everyone who has already received admission to Stony Brook!!!
@LOLHELPME You have awesome stats too! Your SAT’s are much better than mine. Hope you get it in man.
@LOLHELPME Your stats are good, your GPA is higher than mine. You should write a letter of continual interest to Stony Brook.
@connetquotreppin Thanks a bunch, pal!!! That means a lot. And I just don’t hope that I get in - I hope we both get in. :+)
@Lalalalalax That’s what I was thinking! But I don’t know - what if Stony Brook takes my letter of interest as an unnecessary and/or unwanted gesture? In other words, would it hurt or slow down my application in anyway?
ACCEPTED BUT LOOKING INTO HONORS COLLEGE… IF YOU HAVE ANY INFO PLEASE PM ME AS I NEED IT…

Please someone tell me how they’re distributing admissions. Is it the more qualified applicants who get in first? I’ve been waiting and waiting for a response, having turned the application in nearly four months ago and I do believe I am a competitive applicant for Stony Brook. I would just like to know how they are deciding who gets a response first?
I applied January 12th and I “received” my acceptance today. I may have been accepted sooner but I just never checked my portal.
@AlbertCollege
