I've been accepted to both for Biology and can't decide. I do plan to attend grad school for dentistry and the commute to stony brook is much easier.
I know stony brook is a school for science like pre-med and such but i also heard its depressing there... ofc tht's base on opinion. As for Binghamton, I dont know too much about it. I'm wondering which would be a better option? Would the undergrad school really matter or its good as long as it prepares me for dental school ? (:

Honestly, graduate/professional school is about performing well regardless of where you are. However, Stony Brook is the SUNY for biological sciences.

Stony Brook isn’t any more depressing than Binghamton; it is what you make it. Academically speaking, Stony Brook > Binghamton in sciences. Conversely, Binghamton > Stony Brook in Humanities, Business and most Social Sciences.

Choosing a school for biology is about two big things.

1) Which one will offer you the most volunteering and research opportunities to boost your resume.
2) Which one DO YOU LIKE BETTER?

With the first one, Stony Brook has the hospital right by it so it would be easy to get your foot in the door for volunteer and research work. However, Binghamton will still have research and volunteering opportunities.
Pretty much every school has biology. Both schools are good so what it really comes down to is whichever one you like better. It will be home for the next four years…don’t compromise.

I chose Stony Brook as a biology major…I am now transferring out because it just wasn’t a fit for me at all. You’re more than welcome to PM me with questions, but I’m not going to put my personal bias out there.
