Stop the Chances Threads!

Ok, when it comes to top schools, chances threads are pointless. No one can determine what the adcoms will do. I once used a chance thread to see if I could get into Stanford. Everyone told me, no chance in hell, but I managed to get in EA. I guess they really liked me. I only got a 30 on my ACT, while kids who got 35's got rejected, and I am not a URM. What does that tell you? College admissions are seemingly undeterminable so people need to stop with all of these chances threads. For HYPSMC and many other top schools, there is no magical formula or way of knowing your chance.

I know people like to know their chances so that they can feel more confident or knowledgable about their application, but that is all crap. I thought I was rejected for sure, but obviously the chances threads were wrong. I think that the actual senior results thread is good, but the rest of the threads should go. Just my thoughts. I know these threads help people, but for me they were more depressing than anything because I didn't think that I could compare to every 2200+ that was applying to the top colleges.

seriously, if you don't like them, then go to a different forum.

Lol, I can see your point, but if you really do not like them, then just pay no attention to this forum.

It is kind of depressing seeing these kids with perfect stats and amazing ECs that make them seem like they could be at four places at once. But overall, this forum provides much information/advice.

that's true... but alot of people on CC are not applying for HYPS.....

Well I was only referring to the students who are applying to the considered top colleges because those decisions are so random. For any other schools you guys should keep the chances threads because they are helpful. I just want to stop every other HYPS thread I see.
