Storage Chest?

I see them all the time in "Must Buy" lists, and even my own school's "what to bring" page mentions them, but I have no idea where to buy one, or even if they're really as functional and indispensable as people claim they are. (Plus, whenever I think of the word "chest", I immediately think of pirates and treasure chests [huge], or Harry Potter and the student's trunks [also huge])

Have any of you bought a storage chest? From where? Any recommendations?

I brought my dads military chest that he took to Iraq with him. I wouldn’t recommend it. It was too heavy for me to pick up (I had to move myself in), so I had to empty everything out with tote bags (ugh), then drag it in.

Definitely would not recommend unless you’re the hulk haha.

Target has storage cubes that I LOVE! I got the harder ones, so I can stack stuff on them or use them as chairs, but I know there are little cube storage containers for foot rests.

^Cubes are a good idea in place of the chests.

Oh, wow, thanks for that! @Princess: I was so about to ask my uncle if he could get me one of those… good thing I didn’t :D

@Alix: Oh, see, those make more sense. Do you slip them under the bed? I see people do that a lot…

My school provides each student with a safe, but I hear trunks are better because they’re kind-of hard to carry out of a room (read: steal) without someone noticing. Are there any other ways to keep things locked safe? Because if the school provided safe is standard-issue, then they look the same, and they’re pretty small…
