Is there a Rite Aid or CVS on Main Street. I know of the 2 bookstores , any other interesting or helpful stores?

Happy Harry’s is on Main Street near Old College.

There’s also a small diner across the street that my daughter loves. I don’t know why, it seems like a hole in the wall to me.

It’s now a Walgreen’s (which owns Happy Harry’s). They changed the name, but it’s the same store.

And there are LOTS of interesting stores, boutiques, etc. What are you looking for?

Here is a link to the downtown Newark gift card and it has a pretty good list of the stores on Main Street. I’m sure you could google the name off the list if something looks interesting to you. I also know there is a Chipotle far side of main street. My D was happy to see that as it’s her favorite.

Has anyone purchased one of these cards for their kids? I was wondering how it worked out.

Thanks Lefty1 that was really helpful .Lots of good stores!!

If you end up living on West Campus (Rodney/Dickinson), there is a Rite Aid a short walking distance from there … my experience is that Rite Aid often has better sales, including on food items. On the far east end of Main, but still easy walking distance, there is a “Deals” discount store in a strip mall area … good for cheap holiday decorations, paper products, candy, beverages, housewares, etc. My D was buying massive Arizona Ice Teas there for $1. Also, if you at all enjoy thrift shopping (my hipster D likes to buy what I consider to be horrendous 80’s clothes to modify and “re-purpose” into new items, as well as items for costume parties), there is a Goodwill in the same strip mall as Deals, and a Salvation Army near West Campus.

I didn’t know about that gift card! Looks like a great idea! Wish I knew about it sooner - going to a graduation party tomorrow for a neighbor who will be starting at UD in the Fall. Would have been a great gift. I will keep looking to see if I can purchase on-line. If anyone knows how to do that, let me know.
