i'm starting college app essays and i was wondering if most ppl wrote more of a narrative in the intro and then went into all the "I did this/will do this" stuff? like a more descriptive intro? I just want to make sure it's okay to add some creativity instead of just starting with the "I want to come to Harvard because I have responsibility and determination" ind of stuff.
thank you

A narrative is a legit and can be a very effective way to approach the essay. It doesn't need to touch on all of your good qualities--a single important one, a life lesson perhaps, is probably all you'll have a chance to relate. Including dialog can be a good idea. The admissions folks are looking for interesting material that tells something important about you.
