straight Bs in midyear report

Will this kill my chances at uchicago after getting deferred?

my uw GPA 9th-11th is 3.55
weighted is 4.1
SAT - math 790 verbal 680 writing 670

senior year courseload - multivariable calc, ap physics, ap stat, ap gov, ap lang

Won't look good, but who knows what'll happen.

I don't mean this to be harsh but STOP TAKING hard classes if you can't pull the weight in them. Regardless of what you and I think, any college would prefer a student who has taken 1-2 APs with a 4.0 over someone who has taken 8-10 APs plus college classes but has a sub-3.5. The GPA is unfortunately THE MOST IMPORTANT piece of the application so you should at least keep it at a reasonable level(3.7-3.8) to be a competitive applicant for top colleges.

Um, I am pretty sure that that is the opposite of truth, evilasiandictator.

Look at Libby's post today--#441.
<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?p=3536646#post3536646%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?p=3536646#post3536646</a></p>

She states "Don't worry so much about your GPA. Worry about your curriculum".

I just hope that a single C won't ruin my chances.

glasses: though she says worry about the curriculum, you shouldnt take a bunch of classes you cant handle and arent interested in or good at just to take a bunch of difficult classes. that won't help as much as doing well in things your interested in or good at.

Andrew--I agree that one should stretch in areas of interest, otherwise school is just painful. But I think Libby's statement may be of comfort to the OP who has taken on an incredible course load (as many of you seem to do). All B's is quite an accomplishment! I would argue that OP is probably learning a ton and is hopefully really engaged in the material because it is rigorous and fun. Chicago looks at students who like to learn and I just wanted the OP to be able to read what was coming from admissions.

Competition for college admission is so fierce that students are pushed into forfeiting great courses because they risk a B--- It's a tough spot to be in and it's my impression that U of C "gets it". Fanatsy?

yea first of all I am really enjoying almost all of my classes with the exception of ap lang which is the only course i really regret taking. Even if i had the choice to go back 6 months and change my schedule knowing what I knnow now I would only change ap lang.

And its not like im bad at these classes. in all of them except lang, I have an 87+, which IMO is pretty solid.

to evil asian dictator - you certaintly correct, GPA, regardless of courseload, is the the most important aspect in admissions. But I would lose all interest in school if i didnt take classes that push me, challange me and make me think, which in the long run is probably a lot more important than which undergraduate college I end up at. A couple of the schools I am applying to for regular decision are special to me cause they are unique and therefore I was concerned about my chances.
