i just found out I got a 34 on my ACT
English -34
Math-35
Reading-36
Science-29

Obviously my science is ridiculously lower than the others, and totally screws with my composite. What should I do now? I'm an asian male aspiring for Ivies, so I know that my scores need to be near perfect.

Btw, I am interested in business, economic is, political science, and international relations, so would my bad science score be detrimental still?

Not sure if this is of much help, but I do have some anecdotal experience that could be applicable to your situation. Last year, two people from my school got acceptances to high-end schools (UPenn and UChicago), and they both got 34s on their ACTs. From what I heard, the kid accepted to UPenn was in a similar situation to you, as he scored highly on 3 sections but got a low score on one section. So, I wouldn’t worry too much. I think you still have a shot at getting in.

However, I would take my advice with a grain of salt. I think his test scores got him in the door, but everything else got him in.

Edit: Just saw that you were a Junior! No need to worry, you can still retake the test several times if you think it’s a big issue.

I don’t think it’s that big a deal. The first time I took the ACT, I got a 36 on the English section and a 21 (!!) on the Science portion. Though my science score rose dramatically to what it is now, that was still a 15 point difference. I think you’ll be fine. Your composite is great, and you can still take it again and raise your score.
