So I'm trying to help the student I'm tutoring find a good business school (he is planning to pursue management) after his recent Early Decision rejection from Stern. He is an international student from India whose SAT scores were fairly average (almost exactly 1500 total between the three sections) and who scored an 80 on the TOEFL. He is really just trying to find some schools at this point that are reputable but will be possible for him to get into. Location, cost, and size are immaterial here. So far I was thinking that Lehigh and Indiana might be good fits, but I would like to give him a list of 8-10 schools. Could someone suggest some reach, match, and safety schools known for their business programs that might be best for this student? Thanks in advance for any help.

Unless those schools are SAT optional for int’ls, I doubt that a 1500 SAT would be enough.

I don’t know if Indiana-Kelley directly admits to their B-school, or if you have to apply during soph year. If you have to apply as an incoming frosh, the SAT will likely hinder (unless SAT optional).

As you can see, at Indiana, his SAT puts him in the lower quartile…that’s not good. That’s often for the athletes or other special admits…

SAT Critical Reading: 520 - 630
SAT Math:… 540 - 650

Indiana would be a reach for him.

So would Lehigh

SAT Critical Reading: 580 - 670
SAT Math:… 640 - 720

Might try Arizona or Az State.

An 80 TOEFL score is pretty marginal.

UT- Austin, McCombs
