Stuck, confused, and lost with college list

Hi everyone,

I’m pretty sure there are some similar threads to this one, however I was having a hard time finding them. Also this is my first post so I may be doing this wrong.

I’m a rising senior and therefore working on looking at colleges, however I am lost and stuck. I have a list of colleges that I am interested in, but it is fairly long and I need to narrow it down to where I would want to apply and visit. I’ve already looked into price, majors, location, size, and stats. I just don’t know where to go next in order to make the list of 15-20 down to about 5-10.

About me:
Living in CA (however the state that the college is in doesn’t matter)
1450 SAT
32 ACT
straight A’s (4 AP classes all passed 3+, 6 honors)
money is not a huge deal right now
most of the schools I’m looking at are privates
interested in STEM

Any advice as to how to narrow down my list would be very appreciated. Thanks!

Have you visited any campuses? That is a great way to narrow it down. Do you want a large school, small school, small class size, urban/suburban environment? Look at the college’s mission statements on their web sites - does that align with your goals? Look for a rating system like UReview College app that helps you to focus on what is important to you in a college. Also, if you talk to other students who attend those schools, you can get a better idea of what campus life/academic life is like.

Try this. They give you a lot of criteria and you end up with a list of like 15 colleges. Try it out!

Thank you @Tammy1234 and @kellymc25 those were great pieces of advice and have helped

So, share your list with us and why you like each school. Perhaps the collective wisdom that is CC can offer advice on your specific list.
