Stuck on Why Penn?

Can anyone offer advice on how to write the Why Penn essay? The M&T Dual Degree essay was a breeze to write because it really came from the heart, but I can't think of anything to say about the University itself (especially an entire 500 words about it).

Any charitable acceptees/current students willing to provide me some insight?

To be completely honest with you, if you can’t think of anything to write about why you love Penn, you probably shouldn’t apply…

Well, I don’t have the money to visit, and I’m trying to avoid an entire essay of facts from their website.

I know you applied ED and thus had to write only one of these “Why ______ College?” essays, but this is my fourth, and thus it’s becoming difficult to think of a new way to flatter yet another institution.

Any tips are much appreciated.

It’s not about flattering the institution. That often results in cliche filled essays that sound more like a brochure than, well, an essay. You do need to do research to see how Penn matches with you, but it really should be about you. What you bring, what your interests are, and why you love Penn. You chose it for a reason, expand on it.

Watch this video, and I’m sure you’ll come up with your essay.

Like you, I was stuck a little bit. But then I remembered what I loved about Penn when I heard about it and visited it. Just think a little and that brochure they send you definitely helps.
