Stuck

hey guys. im a little frustrated because im stuck at a 670-710 range for the english, math, and writing parts of the SAT! i've taken a few practice tests, but my scores aren't going up! what should i do? because I really want to get above 2100 my first time (in january), but my range isn't guaranteeing that :( how should i prepare?...

You should just take a few practice tests. This is the only SAT preparation I did, and I ended up with a great score.
Try to take 5 or 6, you will see that your score goes up a little every time. Eventually, the improvements all add up and you should reach 2100.

For CR if you’re getting SC questions wrong, memorize a short but sufficient list of vocab words. (It’s really hard to know them all, the SAT somtimes uses words no ones ever heard of lol). This section is hard to improve for most people. Try developing passage reading stratagies and try your best to get all the MC questions right. For example, I never read the passage first, I first read the question and then went back to the the passage etc. and tried to match the answer to that reference of the passage.

For Math it seems like you’re there, you’ve simply got to stop making careless mistakes, this is a problem for a lot of people, it was and ended up still being a problem when I took the test for the last time (Ended up being a 730 for me, easily couldve been an 800 if I hadn’t made 3 careless mistakes on medium level questions lol, kind of funny since I got all the difficult right) My suggestion would be to read the question twice before attempting to answer it.

Writing: learn how to write the SAT essay, usually an introduction, 2-3 paragraphs all supporting your stance on the question, and make sure it fills both pages up. As for the multiple choice, review grammar rules, but I think this section can really be only improved with practice. I didn’t use this, but a lot of people have found the “7 deadly grammer blunders” on sparknotes helpful.

Most Importantly, make sure take practice tests under timed conditions.

I used these stratagies and scored a 2220

I would look at Silverturtle’s Guide to help you over all, especially on the Writing section. Direct Hits will definitely help build your vocab knowledge needed for the SCs and the Critical Reading passages. Math is lots of practice!!

I was stuck at the same range of points. I was advised to carefully review my mistakes and read the answers and explanations. At first nothing special happened but now I see some improvement. This is for the CR and maths but for the Grammar it is really up to lot of practice.
