Student Health Insurance

Hello everyone, I am an incoming freshman from FL. I recently received mail about the school's health insurance compliance policy. I am currently on Medicaid in my home state, which does not comply with Penn's policy. I called the school and a lady told me that the school only accepts Medicaid from NJ or PA. She recommended that I apply for Medicaid in NJ or PA (which I am not sure is legal). I have the option of enrolling in Penn's insurance (which is about $3000) or completing a waiver that shows that my health insurance meets the eligibility requirements for Penn. Should I just go ahead and get my own insurance? Does anyone know of a cheap student health insurance? Thanks in advance

If you are eligible for Medicaid, there is a chance you are getting significant FA. If you are getting FA, ask them if they will increase it to cover the amount of the insurance that you are getting through Penn.
