Hi,

All Fin Aid doc's are filed. We (Parents) did the IRS Retrieval tool and it work fine. Son's income was under $1800 and we did NOT file. On the schools site they are saying the outstanding Financial Aid doc is the students use of the the tool or an IRS transcript.
Since the student has never filed, the online tool doesn't work. The 4506-T asks for the return type. There is a checkbox for "didn't file a return" but they don't reply until after June 15th.

Does anyone else have experience with this type of situation?

Thanks for the help.

Check with the school’s financial aid department. We had the same situation last year and my son’s school had a non-filers statement which was a form he had to fill out list any income earned or not earned. He then had to sign it and return to the school.

Go to the school’s website and search for student non tax filer form - that is what she will need to fill out and submit. If you can’t find it, call the aid office to ask how to get a form.

Thanks. We had already done the non-filer form. The school said that if the student doesn’t file, you don’t need the IRS tool or the transcript. They had made a mistake on the site in his requirements outstanding. Thanks for the input
