Guys I want to have more insights into the student life at Bucknell. Since the school is located in a rural area, I wonder whether student life here is vibrant enough. Besides, how is downtown Lewisburg? Do they have many shops, restaurants, cinemas, etc there?
Downtown Lewisburg is a nice, little college town area. It is within walking distance from the campus. There are some shops, a movie theater (with one screen), and plenty of restaurants that cater to college students. Bucknell also runs a shuttle bus that takes you to another shopping area with a Wal-Mart and some other stores and restaurants. But keep in mind that you are, indeed, in a rural area in Pennsylvania, about 3 hours from any large city. Really, the best way to know if it will be vibrant enough for you would be to visit.
Hi, as a lifelong resident of Lewisburg, I think I can help you out! There are many independent restaurants downtown (Sushi, Thai, mercado burrito,a few bars & a deli among others), there’s also a one screen theater, and independent shops. However the town is fairly rural.
Most bucknell students either stay on campus during the weekends or head into downtown Lewisburg. A weekend spent partying is fairly normal
but there are also many groups of students who abstain. There is an annual house party weekend, which always draws a large crowd, even though it was technically banned by President Bravman.
If you have any more questions, I’m more than welcome to answer them!
