How is Cornell? Is it social? Is there enough time to balance studies and social life? Is there a lot to do outside of the campus? Are you guys enjoying your time there?

Just looking for different opinions. Thanks!

Cornell is great. It is generally pretty social on campus; there’s always something going on somewhere. Tons of clubs and a huge variety of different people with different interests. Students tend to be pretty open about working/studying together.

It’s pretty simple to balance work and a social life as long as you manage your time properly. This of course will depend on your major (think applied engineering physics vs. hotel administration). Still, I know guys with insane course loads that still find the time to party/chill on the weekends. If you’re big on partying it’s best to be in a frat (if you’re a male), or at least be extremely well connected with guys in frats.

Outside of campus leaves one wanting a bit more. Collegetown is alright but it’s basically just a few restaurants/pizza joints/bars. Downtown Ithaca is okay but not exactly a big city with lots to do. Cornell is seriously in the middle of nowhere; expect the majority of your free time to be spent on campus. There is, however, a lot of nature stuff both on and around campus, which is great when the weather permits.

All in all, I love it here and don’t regret coming at all.

@shockastrika83 thank you so much. that really helps a lot!
