I recently visited UCI over the weekend and parking was horrible. We bought a garage day-pass and drove around for 45 minutes waiting for someone to pull out. I was wondering if a student were to bring a car, are they guaranteed a reserved space at whatever parking garage is near their dorms?

I live in the Mesa Court dorms and I have my car with me.
The parking lot is out in the open.
Not many kids bring their car because parking is expensive! $80/month.

There’s no guarantee to a reserved space; you just park wherever you want and there are many spaces to park in so I never worry about what you experienced in the parking garage.

If you’re dorming, you won’t have a problem with parking since it’s separate from the ones nearby school like the APS or Student Center parking.

Was the garage day pass for a specific garage/structure? if you’re going to live in Middle Earth, you can park in the social science parking structure or the one near pippin/phase III buildings, can’t remember what it’s called. My friends have never complained about finding parking.

It was the parking garage near the student center. And thanks for the reassurance because 80/month is expensive so for that price I’d like to be sure I would get a space whenever haha

Oh and I also wanna make sure you know that the parking for dorming residents is off campus NEAR your dorms. Meaning if you want parking for the sole purpose of parking near your classes, it’s not possible unless you buy another permit to park in one of those structures you have been in before (which nobody does because that is obviously overkill and a waste of money). The residence parking is worth getting if you want a car to go places off campus and such.
