So, I have a really bad student teacher for History... someone really needs to pull her aside and tell her she's not cut out for teaching. She basically reads PowerPoints that she makes the night before, and if you ask her a question that she doesn't know, she just respond by saying that it's not going to be on the test. I can't stand her any longer... I could teach the class better than her, though it can be entertaining at times to watch the class be totally out of control.

So, any interesting/good/bad student teachers that you've had recently?

i once had one that barfed on like half the class
i wasnt that half though LMAO

I have two female student teachers for band. One’s really good, one not so much. They hate each other and you can definitely tell.

I had one student teacher in math when I was a sophomore who always overly explained everything and then had to remind herself that she was teaching sophomores and not upper level math. She tried to teach us some algebraic concept using (what I later found out) was calculus.

Now, the student teacher I had in calculus was amazing and really connected with his students. Now, he is a teacher at my school.

I had this English student teacher in 8th grade who was terrible at giving feedback. We would make a comment and she would give the same generic “Good job” or whatever response. It just sounded so artificial that we all hesitated in initiating discussion.

The Orchestra student teacher I had was horrible and we all hated her. I saw her working at Whole Foods a while later.

We had this one “student” teacher in calculus who would come observe us, but he just wanted to learn what it was like to teach high school students as he was considering that. He had taught at colleges before, even Harvard, but his son goes here, so he didn’t think we were going to be a bunch of rowdy unintelligent kids. He was very nice to have in class.

But my Time to Speak (stupid, stupid required class) teacher this year was horrible. She was a real teacher, but she was worse than any student teacher I’ve ever had. She literally could not teach and decided to tell us all the answers to her final exam 30 minutes before so we wouldn’t all bomb it, making her look like the idiot she is. I have no idea how she got through the student teacher period. She keeps up all these stupid antics. This semester, when she was being observed, she had students raise their left hand if they didn’t know the answer to a question and their right hand if they did, and promised them treats if they were good. It’s pitiful.

There was this one student teacher in my pre-calc class who was awful. I think I was the only one in the class who maintained an A while she was teaching, and that was because I stopped listening after she told us the concept and learned it out of the book. Her explanations made people understand less. When she was absent our regular pre-calc teacher came in and basically taught two weeks in a couple days lol. She was really bad, and she blamed the students half the time too.
