I am wondering how easy it is to get parts in the student theatre groups? I will not be a theatre major but I do love acting and improv. Is it a clique you have to break into or as a freshman would I have as good a chance as anyone trying out?

My son is a student at Vassar currently a sophomore. Thursday he will be in his second play at Vassar. He did one his freshman year. There is not one theater troop at Vassar there are, it seems, dozens, but all of them taken seriously. It seems to be “the thing” at Vassar and everyone participates, well maybe not everyone. But if someone has enough drive he/she will get a play going. There seems to be groups loosely that have continuity but it seems to run by who ever steps in. Anyway everyone gets to do serious theater at Vassar. My son was in high school drama but he is far from majoring in it. There are many postings about auditions for different stuff and you just go and audition. Vassar does not appear to be clique. Guarantee if you want you will find something.
