The colleges above are not Ivies or LACs like Pomona College. BUT have relatively higher standards when it comes to GPA and SAT/ACT score compared to for example, Syracuse or Purdue.

their acceptance rates and SAT ranges are as above.

For these schools, what are the chances that Student X 600CR, 690M, 670W has at the colleges above?

Now say Student Y has 630CR, 720M, 690W. Less extracurriculars, but higher GPA (by .20) and SAT scores than Student X. They come from similar backgrounds. Does Student X and Y have relatively equal shots at the colleges above?

In other words, do the colleges above really compare students SAT/GPA much more than any other factor? Do colleges care about a student's individuality and originality? Does it really come down to SAT/GPA stats?

Sorry if I'm making this a long-winded situation.

These colleges would probably care more about the grades, inwhichcase Y has the advantage. However, if student Y has fewer ECs but is more dedicated to them than X is, I say Y would still habe the advantage over X for most school admissions.

When every applicant earns top scores and applies, then the admissions process becomes more discriminating and holistic. I am sorry I can only give you so much of my opinion.
