This girl at my school said that she has already been accepted to NYU. I was shocked when i heard this information since even early decision students do not receive letter until December 15. Is there an earlier application than early decision? Is this true or is she not telling the truth? AHHHHHHH!

She definitely could be telling the truth, as a boy at my school was also accepted Early Decision for Fall 2010. Just quickly glancing through NYU’s website says they send out decisions in December and January for ED, so it’s possible they got through them fairly early this year and sent them out.

There was no application that was earlier than ED. If you applied Early, I would just expect to get your decision soon, but don’t stress about it. The time difference will most likely have little to no bearing on whether you are accepted or rejected.

it’s hard to say. has she been gsp’d? (general studies program) this means that when she applied for a specific school, she was not admitted but was instead granted acceptance to the general studies program at nyu. the reason these acceptances are sent out sooner is because gsp acceptance early decision is not binding and they therefore have the chance to reject the acceptance but still must decide within the field of time given for regular early decision applicants. (three weeks after mid-December) So she very well could be telling the truth but only if she has been gsp’d.

On the other hand, no, students who were accepted to their program of choice at nyu for fall 2010 have not heard yet. Those acceptance/rejection letters supposedly get mailed on December 10th of every year (if not at the beginning of that week in which the 10th falls) and hear by about the 15th of december. so, in this case, if she has been accepted, this can still be very good news for you. it means that you still have a chance of being accepted to the actual program to which you applied rather than going to the school for general studies :)

I’d have to guess that she was LSP’d.

My daughter received her Early Decision acceptance via US mail yesterday, and, yes, it was LSP. Oddly the letter arrived 12/8 and was dated 12/9. LSP or not, she’s THRILLED as NYU is her first choice.

congratulations flmom!! and good luck to all those who are expecting letters between today and tuesday AAHHHH!!
