Hi!

I'm applying for transfer currently from Barnard College at Columbia University. I'm transfering because I was raised in New York CIty and circumstances have changed that I don't need to be here anymore. My main focus is leaving New York, and I was accepted into Occidental College... I love the campus, the environment but am currently a little ill informed on the intellect of the student body. i don't mean that in an elitist way, but is this a school where people like to discuss great books or television shows? That sort of thing. Are students superficial and judgemental or are they open and looks aren't important? What are the generl characteristics of students currently at Oxy? Also, how are the professors? Do they challenge students? Are grades given away or hard to earn? Sorry, these questions do sound snobby but they are important to my happiness at a school and any suggestions can help!
