proly multivariable. Classes all depend on teachers. If u get a chill teacher, u will have an easy time. If u don't, u might have to work like a dog.

thats why i use ratemyprofessors.com religiously. It saved my ass 70% of the time. If u don't know many people at ur school, it's like a miracle.

I love ratemyprofessor...too bad I only found out bout it this semester...if I had known of its existence my experience in Physics would have been more fullfilling

I dont believe in "easy" math teachers(unless they give partial credit for wrong answers). Great teacher is more like it, well atleast in my school. CC teachers are usually great people. You won't get screwed over like in universities where teachers think that they're above you.

Jubei there is an easy teacher in every subject. An math easy teacher does the following

Points out what specificly will be on the test

Gives similar probs as the HW

Does not try to trick u or give u type of probs u've never seen.

Yeah you're right. That's why I'm having doubts about going to the university of houston. I've looked at some places and it seems like the UH physics department has too many damn complaints about the ****ty teaching. They seem to lack any of those qualities you just mentioned.

They seem to have a good physics program but the undergrad education seems to suck.

well...the thing is that majority of the students in my math teachers class get Cs or below...maybe I like her teaching style of something. my physics teacher on that other hand was a total....everybody hated him. He skipped 6 chapters, gave way difficult tests, no help...it was horrible...I don't know how he even got the job.

jubei: I found out that out of every science subject it is physics which almost always has the ****tiest teachers..most of them can't teach...dunno why this is though

Jubei, physics is the hardest science for me and for most people.

ratemyprofessor.com is a good site and all, but it has a lot more complainers than complementors. I hope u're not judging an entire school on solely that website.

As much we try to avoid bad teachers, we will have our share of them just like everyone else. The key is to adapt and be ready.

I lucked on getting a good calc teacher and a decent chem teacher, but my bio teacher is not so great. OH well 2 out 3 ain't bad.

Well just to update, im going 16 credits (moderate difficulty classes, 1 very hard one), 32 hours/wk job, starting 2nd job beginning of april, tennis club, church, and working out. I got my hands full, but i kinda like staying busy.

I missed my class again eventhough i came 45 mins b4 class started. Where do u park on the streets? After my class was 65% over, i just left parking lot and drove south. I ended up parking 5 blocks south of Ocean Park. On a street called Pier and 18th street. The neighborhood is sketchy but the street was empty. I walked about 10 mins to campus, but i don't mind the walking one bit.

Is there anywhere closer to park? I parked 5 blocks south of Ocean Park.

17 units, 30+ hours. Same situation as CollegeMan...

RE: Fin Aid

I can't understand why the federal government is allowed to impose standards of "independence" and "dependence" on us which totally aren't based off of reality (we support ourselves, we pay taxes, we're subject to the same legal responsibilities as our parents...) Though I wish my parents would help me or cosign a loan for me, I think it's messed up that it is assumed that they SHOULD do so. And they expect average earning families to contribute way more than what is reasonable when you consider things like mortgage and debt and living expenses... Very frustrating.

Keep in mind I'm not very willing to sacrifice having a life.

40 hours at work. 9 units at CC, prereqs for MBA. Easy classes. Used ratemyprofessors to keep the load easy. Very-doable. Still have a life.

Winter intersession (3 units in 3 weeks) - 3 upper division CSU units (5 days a week 2.75 hrs/day in class for three weeks) Still working 40 hours at work. 3.0 rating for prof on ratemyprofessors. Got A-. Hell. No life outside work/school for three weeks. Wouldn't do again.
