Does Georgetown accept students with learning disabilities who have good grades but just need extra time processing?
Hi,
Georgetown or any college for that matter cannot deny someone merely on their disability. In fact, it is illegal under the Americans with Disabilities Act that states that colleges/employers cannot discriminate against disabled people. When you apply to colleges or jobs you are covered by that act and it doesn’t disclose any disability unless you tell them. When I was applying to colleges they had no idea I had a learning disability and I had a 3.5 cumulative GPA and volunteering. It wasn’t until I applied for accommodations at my college that my college was made aware that I needed extra time on test and separate testing location because I had LD. People with learning disabilities are capable of doing just as great as an average student; however, everyone has a different learning speed and it is nothing that they should be ashamed about.
