students...

I go to a very good Jesuit school in San Francisco. During spring break this year, I visited Georgetown and loved it. The only thing that I noticed that I didn't really like was the fact that all the students seemed to be kids from my school, only a few years older. They were all wearing Abercrombie/Hollister, miniskirts and heels, etc. I could be completely wrong but it seemed as if everybody was "powder pink popped collar grandmas pearls" preppy, which definitely is not me. I'm sure that I would be able to find a great group of people in which I would fit in just fine, but I certainly don't want to go to a school that is a carbon copy of my current high school. If anyone has any insights or any knowledge to share, it would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Sounds like you met "Joe Hoya." He has an equivalent-"Jane Hoya." A lot of people feel the same way that you do. It is actually fairly common to hear some students, particularly private school students, say that Gtown is exactly the same as high school for them. For me personally, it was completely different...but I came from a small public school in south Texas. It is what it is.

I understand that it is what it is. Thats the way the world works. I get that I met...almost the stereotypical Georgetown student, but did I met the average student? I mean are most students at Georgetown like that, or did I just meet a few similar people by chance?

I'm not like that and none of my friends are like that and we love it here:)

here here sportula, same here, though I do ahve freinds that are like that. but it's all about diversity

brilliant...thats what i wanted to hear :-)

I'm heading out there this fall. And I don't plan on EVER POPPING MY COLLAR UNLESS it is in jest/satire of those who do.

people dress differently. don't sweat it.
I actually like the fact more than 50% of campus look nice. good for people watching.
