Studio Art Programs: Smith, Macalester, Oberlin, Wesleyan

My D is strongly interested in studio art as a possible major, definitely a minor, along with an equally strong interest in science (bio, botany, environmental science). She has taken art electives all 4 years of high school, portfolio classes at MICA and attended SAIC's pre-college program last summer but decided to go apply to liberal arts colleges and not an art school because of her strong science interest. Now that we've heard from all the schools her best options overall are Smith, Oberlin and Macalester (waitlisted at Wesleyan). She is especially interested in sculpture/installation art. Any advice specifically about the merits of the these schools' studio art programs would be appreciated!

what is the chance she’d be off the list for Wes?
I would hope and pray. I will do that for you. It is forever MY dream school.
other than that, I know brainy installation-ny artist who went the other girls’ school in the consortium, but more humanity brain side than science.
from either schools, kids tend to get in hi powered art grad school soon after with parents’ full pay (this seems to be the key factor for those girls, can you=parent, pull it off?) then become scholar or practicing artist. this means UG art is only a step toward the eventual goal, but it is a good one.
Macalester I never heard any peep about studio art.
Oberlin is sort of plan B for Wes (sorry no offense) and over all good if you don’t mind the location. I felt rather iffy but their big selling point is that they’d rent out holdings of its museum:real artworks by masters’ closed in plexiglass frame to students living in dorms to decorate their room.
good luck, I am jealous.
